Can we clear a few things up?
1. The word is “oriented”, not “orientated”. That seems to be the latest buzzword for people who want to indulge in official “speak without actually saying anything” doubletalk. The difference in meaning between the passive adjective and active transitive verb is negligible, but it exists, and you sound like a bureaucratic retard.
2. We are NOT a “Christian nation”. Get it out of your head right now. Either is America (although it’s probably closest to being one than any other country in the world). The existence of a religiously neutral democratic state automatically precludes identification with any sect, whether they compose of 99% of the population, or 1% of the population. To do otherwise implies a theocracy and trivialises church-state separation. Iran is an example of a Jafari Shia Islamic nation. Get my drift?
3. Roundabouts are not stop-sign intersections. They are there to allow the traffic to flow. You give way to traffic already in the roundabout. You do not automatically stop and let in traffic to your right. Doing so does not allow the traffic to flow. What’s so difficult to understand about that?
4. Oh, and if you seriously believe that the current system of laws in western countries are based on the ten commandments, you’re misguided and possibly require medical attention. So they got the “murder and theft are bad” thing right. Good for them. That’s where the similarities end. I don’t see any mention of “Sabbath Day” or “graven images” in federal law. I’m sick of people ringing up talkback radio and pretending they know what they’re talking about.
I had to drive to uni today to fix up some enrolment details, and on just about every Stop sign I passed, a sticker saying “Bush” had been stuck underneath. Someone’s been busy…
