As a professional wedding planner I keep abreast with almost all wedding planner books published, you never know what sort of benefit a simple/obvious tip could have on your business as a wedding planner.

I’ve had a copy of the Amazing Wedding Planning book for almost 2 years now and of the dozens of books on wedding planning I’ve read it is by far the best.

Before I read this book I already knew the wedding planner business very well: was in my second year as a wedding planner and had worked for another wedding planner for 5 years prior to that (so over 6 years experience, over 8 years now).

Even so I learnt a few tricks** I’d not come across before and more importantly to a bride/groom planning their wedding on their own the book covers the majority of what a good wedding planner (like myself) will do with you.

** Prior to reading the book I’d call suppliers for wedding resources: wedding flowers, wedding cakes, wedding decorations etc… and get a quote mentioning I was a wedding planner. Now when gaining quotes for some items I DO NOT even mention the word wedding, because like the book says when a retailer hears the word wedding suddenly EVERYTHING becomes more expensive!

Obviously you can’t use this technique for all wedding items needed, but items like hiring chairs for a wedding you will find not mentioning wedding until after the quote will results in a lower price (I was shocked this worked with suppliers I’d used for nearly 3 years!). This one tip for me as a wedding planner made buying the book worthwhile: I paid for the book 10 times over in savings from lower chair hire on one wedding!

Don’t get me wrong, if you can afford a good wedding planner (hint: me) it’s the best way by far of making your dream wedding day go without a hitch. But in hard economic times many people can either not afford a wedding planner at all or have had to cut back on what their planner is doing with them.

With that in mind buying a good quality wedding planner book like the Amazing Wedding Planning is far better than struggling through the arrangements on your own!
